Aim High
The purpose of 'Aim High', the education wing of fly2help is to encourage youngsters to consider taking up careers in the aerospace and aviation industries.
How is this funded?
'Aim High' is run at ZERO COST to the charity as all educational programmes and scholarships are funded through industry sponsorship alone. Please note that all monies donated by the public to fly2help are directed purely towards our 'Air Smiles' events and that 'Aim High' is self-sufficient.
Our Educational Programmes:
Cotswold Airport Aviation Scholarships
Our principle educational programme, in conjunction with Cotswold Airport Aviation Services, is the provision of 10 Aviation Scholarships each year to children aged between 14 and 18 years old. The aim of this scheme is to provide the Scholars with a broad knowledge of the opportunities available to them in aviation by exposing them to as many facets of the aviation and aerospace industries as possible, during a 2 week period over the Easter holiday period.
This is an incredible opportunity for any budding pilot, air traffic controller, engineer, or aviation administrator. The scholarships take place every year and it is through fly2help's website that applications can be made. Please read more about the scholarships to get a flavour for what they are about
fly2help Flying Scholarship
We are proud to be launching the fly2help Flying Scholarship this year, which is wholly and generously sponsored by the Royal Aeronautical Society. The aim of this scholarship is to provide a youngster with enough flying to achieve the first great milestone in any pilot's career, your first solo. fly2help is committed to encouraging young people to take up careers in the aviation industry and this scholarship forms part of this aim. The scholarship will provide approximately 15 hours on a Cessna 152 with Kemble Flying Club and during the 3 week period they will teach all the basics of flying with lessons in the air and on the ground.
Thank you to all those young people who applied. Following interviews on 16th July for the 3 short-listed candidates, Sam Jacques from Cirencester will be taking to the sky as this year's scholar. He starts his Flying Scholarship on the 15th August 2011 here at Cotswold Airport.
fly2help wants to expand its educational programmes with the addition of 'The Cape Town Challenge Initiative' - a learning package for schools based on Steve Noujaim's successful world record flight to Cape Town and back in 2010. We are searching for an industry partner to help us launch this project.
