Squadron Leader Geoffrey Wellum DFC

In August 1939, aged just eighteen, Geoffrey signed up with the Royal Air Force, just a few weeks before the war was declared. He saw extensive action as a Spitfire pilot in the Battle of Britain and 50 years later became the author of 'First Light' - an evocative and completely absorbing memoir of his experiences as a fighter pilot. Geoffrey will be an inspiration to all who come through our doors.
