John Goodenough - Air Smiles Day 14th June 2008

John GoodenoughJohn, aged 47, is severely autistic and lives in care in Swindon. He has had a life-long passion for all things aeronautical. John spent the morning at fly2help with his three carers, Caroline, Sue and Kelvin.

John had been rather disturbed during the early morning and it was doubtful if he would board the aircraft, let alone fly. However, John, Sue and Kelvin had a superb 15 minute flight with Steven Day in G-GREY - John laughing throughout the trip!

John at the Kemble Fire StationHe also looked around the Fire Station, and enjoyed watching aircraft landing in preparation for Kemble Air Day.

"The event fulfilled a dream of John's to actually have the chance to get in an aeroplane and to fly. We, the carers, were really pleased to be able to arrange and achieve such an outcome. The whole event was a brilliant experience and opportunity - making the impossible possible for someone special."

John's group"We cannot thank you enough on behalf of John. This is something we never thought possible, firstly because where can we take John on an aeroplane and have a flight, and also where would we find kind and understanding people?"

"Well, we found you all at Kemble at fly2help. A really big thank you to you and to the brilliant pilot, Steven. All of this would never have happened but for you, so thank you so very, very much."

Best wishes from John, Sue, Kelvin and Caroline.
