Events and Air Smiles Days
Alex - Air Smiles Day 25th August 2009
Alex (age 15) who lives with severe learning difficulties,
is also physically disabled, wheelchair bound, and is currently
waiting for major surgery. His parents Keith and Jane found
out about fly2help
at the Kemble Air Show earlier this year and realised how
special a day with us would be for the whole family.
Alex, his mother and stepfather were treated to 30 minute flight over Castle Combe, Devizes, Vale of the White Horse and Swindon. Luke smiled and laughed the whole time - it was stressed how different this was for the whole family, who's only previous helicopter experiences are with an unconscious Alex in an air ambulance.
After lunch in AV8 restaurant, Delta Jets kindly gave an informative and interesting tour around their hangar. As aviation fans, they were all particularly interested in Hunter Jets. A visit to the Tower was not possible due to accessibility, but the Fire Crew also provided a tour of the station and appliances, giving Alex the thrill of hearing the alarm sirens!
A successful day, and extraordinary adventure, blue skies and smiles for some very special people!
