fly2help Raffle Paintings Flying High With the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight
On a very sunny warm July 3rd 2010, two specially commissioned paintings for fly2help, which formed part of our raffle prize draw this June, took to the skies with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF). The Avro Lancaster displayed at the Waddington International Airshow in front of a capacity crowd, with the Lancaster painting on board, while the Dakota painting was on board the BBMF Dakota which flew over France.
Jonathan Margetts, the aviation artist who painted the pictures of the BBMF Avro Lancaster and the BBMF Dakota visited the BBMF at RAF Coningsby, where the paintings were signed by the Lancaster Crew and the Dakota Crew in addition to the Officer Commanding BBMF. Each painting received a BBMF flight authenticity certificate, which will go to the respective lucky prize winners too.
Jonathan said: "I am delighted that my paintings were flown specially for fly2help with the BBMF and it is a wonderful end to a project initially started almost 12 months ago. I am very grateful for all those who have helped to make this possible and for the kind co-operation of the BBMF. It gives me so much pleasure in knowing that every penny raised by the raffle from these paintings will go towards helping beneficiaries on future fly2help Air Smiles Days".
All winners have been notified and prizes have been allocated. We wish you better luck next time, but thank you for supporting this fundraiser.
fly2help are enormously grateful to Jonathan for all his tremendous work on this fundraiser; not only for his wonderful paintings but for his dedication and commitment to ensuring both paintings were flown & signed by the crews. This increased their worth and ensured their uniqueness for the two lucky winners. Thank you also to the BBMF for their time in also making sure this all came together.
